Summit Downtown Plans Holiday Events, Caroling

Several events and promotions are planned in November and December in the city's shopping district.

SUMMIT, NJ — It's beginning to feel a lot like the holidays, and even amid coronavirus restrictions there are ways to find joy. Summit Downtown has planned a host of traditional activities in the shopping district this November and December, including:

Small Business Saturday

Nov. 28 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Many businesses will feature special offers and merchandise for the day. Downtown parking is free all weekend. Enjoy live music throughout downtown.

Carriages and carolers

Nov. 28, Dec. 5, 12, 19: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Downtown shoppers can enjoy holiday music and free horse and carriage rides from 1 to 4 p.m. Nov. 28 (a Saturday) and these Saturdays: Dec. 5, 12, and 19.

The boarding location will be Lyric Park, located at the corner of Bank Street and Beechwood Road. Use 17 Beechwood Road for GPS.

Downtown Summit said, "Special thanks to Sunrise of Summit for sponsoring the carriage rides on Dec. 19!"

Ice carving

Dec. 19, 1 to 4 p.m.

In addition to the other events on that Saturday, there will also be live ice carving at the Promenade!

Farmers markets and other events

This year, the farmers markets are running on dates through December. In addition to dates through Nov. 22, the market will be open Dec. 6, 13, and 20. Note that they are running at a different time than the November events.
