Snow Problem! Summit Eighth Grader Wins Skiing Championship
Louis Friedrich of Summit won statewide honors on the slopes last month.
SUMMIT, NJ — Louis Friedrich, an eighth grader at Summit Middle School, won the US Ski Association's Pennsylvania State Championship by competing in events on Saturday, Feb. 22 and Sunday, Feb. 23 at Seven Springs Resort in western Pennsylvania.
Louis bested 44 of the top U14 male racers from across the state's four geographic divisions in Slalom and Giant Slalom competition to win the state title.
Louis races for the Blue Mountain Race Team in Palmerton, PA, and entered the state competition as the top qualifier from Pennsylvania's Eastern Division.

Following his State championship win, Louis will join 11 of Pennsylvania's other top U14 male and female athletes at the USSA U14 Eastern Regional Championships at Vermont's Sugarbush Resort on March 13 through 16.
There, he will compete against many of the nation's top ski racing athletes in Super-G, Giant Slalom and slalom disciplines.

This is Louis' fourth selection to the Pennsylvania State Team, his family said, including a top 10 performance in Eastern regional competition in 2018.
