Summit To Hold Two Information Sessions On Covid Vaccines
One session will be virtual and the other in person, to answer residents' questions about coronavirus vaccines and help find appointments.
SUMMIT, NJ — Summit residents will have two opportunities this week to ask questions about the vaccines for coronavirus, and can get help registering for appointments and alerts. The second session will be in person and have information in English and Spanish.
The first session for area residents will be held virtually this Tuesday night at 7 p.m., via Zoom. See the link below. In that session, questions will be answered such as: How to register, the different types of vaccines, side effects and efficacy, local plans to distribute the vaccines, and any questions from residents.

At that session, Dr. Janice Baker and Dr. Brittni Alexander from Overlook Family Practice join the Westfield Regional Health Department in this open forum.

Sunday session in person
Another opportunity to learn more will take place this Sunday afternoon into the evening.
That opportunity will have vaccine information session and appointment registration assistance in English and Spanish. It's an opportunity for Summit residents to learn about why getting the COVID-19 vaccine is safe and will help to control the spread of the virus in the community.
Participants can ask questions of medical professionals and health officials. Learn about where you can get vaccinated locally.
That session will be held Sunday, March 14 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Summit Community Center at 100 Morris Ave. Call 908-277-2932 if you need more details.

Meanwhile, With 80,000 doses of the new Johnson and Johnson coronavirus vaccine sent to hospitals around New Jersey last week, people are beginning to see more availability for vaccine appointments statewide.
On Friday, five new vaccine locations were added in Union County, including an Acme supermarket, a Stop & Shop, and three new ShopRites. See Patch's updated list from Friday here.
Also, Friday morning after 6 a.m., six CVS stores in New Jersey had appointments available. Click the link to see what's available now.
Seniors in Union County can call this number if they have no computer access: 908-613-7829, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 to 1 on Saturday.
