The rules
- Following local health department guidelines, the number of patrons allowed in will be capped at 20 patrons at a time.
- Photocopying, faxing, scanning, and printing services will be available. The computers will still be available by appointment for one hour per day.
- Reading tables will be for single-use only and not intended for group work or tutoring.
- To ensure safety, the quiet study rooms, meeting rooms, and Think-it Lab will remain closed.
- All programming will continue to be virtual. Curbside service will still be available for those who prefer it.
- Due to safety reasons related to sanitizing, bathrooms will not be available for public use.
- All patrons (over the age of 2) and all staff will be required to wear face masks.
- The library asks that patrons hand sanitize before entering the library and after touching library materials (there are hand sanitizers located throughout the library, including by the lobby entrance). The library has cleaned all HVAC ductwork and installed a bipolar ionization air filtration system to kill bacteria and viruses in the air. Sneezeguards have been installed to protect both staff and patrons.
Patrons wishing to use contactless checkout can go to the app store for their cell phone and download the cloudLibrary™ app. You will need to enter your library card barcode number and PIN (usually the last 4 digits of your barcode number, unless you have changed it). If you cannot remember your PIN, contact the library at 908-273-0350.

Summit Free Public Library Director Susan Permahos said, “We are thrilled to be able to continue to offer our patrons both curbside and in-person browsing options. While we are abiding by our local health department’s request to limit the number of patrons allowed in at any one time, we believe that allowing patrons the option for in-person browsing will improve our patrons’ experience and keep us connected to our mission.”
