Summit Offers Charging Station In Wake Of Tropical Storm Isaias
More than a million NJ residents lost power, and many streets have fallen trees and wires.

SUMMIT, NJ — While Tropical Storm Isaias veered west and spared North Jersey the worst of its wrath, it still downed trees and left 1.3 million state residents without power Tuesday.
The city of Summit noted on Wednesday afternoon: "The city has established an outdoor charging station in the Broad Street east parking lot (adjacent to the Broad Street parking garage). Residents may charge electronic devices from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. If power outages continue, weekend hours will be established. Power strips are provided. Please bring your own charging cord and adapter. Face masks are required and people are asked to maintain a safe social distance of six feet from one another."

Downed wires should always be considered “live.” Stay at least 30 feet away from downed wires. Do not approach or drive over a downed line and do not touch anything it might be in contact with. If a wire falls on or near your car, stay inside the car, call 911, and do not get out until PSEG de-energizes the line. If you MUST get out of the vehicle because it is on fire, jump as far as possible away from the vehicle, with both feet landing on the ground at the same time, and hop or shuffle away.
