Summit Police Reports: If You Leave Your Fob, They Will Rob
Several unlocked vehicles were stolen or burglarized last month.

SUMMIT, NJ — According to the Summit police reports from March, several unlocked cars were stolen or burglarized last month, one of which had a key fob left in it.
Here is a rundown of incidents reported to police:
- On March 30, police took a report at 12:03 p.m. of a theft of a motor vehicle from a Morris Avenue business. The victim reported that the incident had occurred between Feb. 17 and March 23. The suspect took a gray 2017 Infiniti QX60 SUV valued at approximately $29,000, police said.
- March 29: At 6:29 p.m., police took a report of a theft of an unlocked 2020 Audi Q5 with a key fob left inside. The vehicle was stolen from a Bellevue Avenue home between 4:15 and 6:28 p.m., the victim said. However, it was later located on a nearby street.
- March 24: A Miele Place resident told police at 3:33 p.m. that they saw, on their security camera, someone trying to burglarize two vehicles in the driveway. The suspect was seen leaving the area after the unsuccessful attempts to gain entry.
- March 16: At approximately 12:29 p.m., someone reported to police that their unlocked 2019 Dodge Ram had been taken from a Broad Street business some time the day before. It was valued at approximately $50,000, police said.
- March 12: At approximately 3 p.m., a neighboring town's police department recovered a recently stolen motor vehicle from a Middle Avenue business. They also apprehended the suspect. They recovered a red 1998 Chevy 1500, valued at approximately $2,000, police said.
- March 7: At 9:52 p.m., a Wallace Road resident reported that a man entered an unlocked vehicle in the driveway. The victim said the man was approximately 5’08” to 5’10”. At the time of the report, nothing seemed to have been taken, police said.
