These students make it their mission to spread kindness in the school and around the Summit community, and hope their acts of kindness inspire others to do the same.
Spyros, Maya, Declan, and Becky are student leaders for Kindness Crew at Franklin Elementary. The mission - you guessed it - is to be kind and spread kindness to others. If you've been to Franklin recently, you probably noticed the hallways are decorated with colorful 'thank you' cards addressed to teachers, custodians, school nurses, and frontline workers such as healthcare heroes, postal workers, and more. This is just one of the initiatives that stemmed from Kindness Crew. "We want to make sure all community members feel thanked, and to make kids realize how much work these community members put into helping the community run. Every kid in every grade made posters," said Spyros. The Kindness Crew also sends out fun personality quizzes and accessible games to students, while organizing food and book drives. These students make it their mission to spread kindness in the Franklin and Summit community.

"I joined because I wanted to help people. I thought it would be fun to help people especially when we're not near them," - Becky
"I got involved because when I was in first grade, Kindness Crew handed out bookmarks about positive characteristics and that made a positive impact on me," - Declan
"When COVID first started, I was stuck at home and realized other people may not have a home or food, so it made me feel good to help. Everyone should have positivity in their lives, even through harsh times," - Maya
"As Ms. Tierney says, 'Kindness is hard to give away because it just keeps coming back,'" - Spyros
