Update: Summit Public Schools Closed Monday

Summit public schools will be closed Monday, Feb. 2 due to inclement weather.

Summit public schools originally announced a delayed start as the snowstorm was predicted to blanket the township with up to 5 inches Sunday night.

  • All Summit Township public schools will have delayed start Monday morning, opening at 10 a.m.
  • Kent Place School will be closed Monday.
  • Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child will be closed Monday

The National Weather Service has issued a “Winter Storm Warning,” saying a “significant” storm could possibly dump up to three to nine inches of snow in New Jersey, and much rain, sleet and snow in South Jersey.

3 to 5 inches is expected to fall in Summit Sunday night, according to the NWS. A mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow will fall Monday with a total new accumulation of less than one inch.

The winter storm warning remains in effect from Sunday evening at 7 p.m. - during the Super Bowl - through Monday afternoon at 1 p.m. There is the potential for one-tenth to one-quarter inch of ice, according to the National Weather Service.
