Summit Releases Map Of Restaurants Offering Outdoor Dining
Many restaurants have applied for a "parklet," or using parking spaces for outdoor dining.

SUMMIT, NJ — The city of Summit has released a map highlighting restaurants offering outdoor dining (see above).
At a special meeting Monday night, the Summit Common Council also approved options for expanded sidewalk cafes and additional parklets. They had previously approved closing sections of Maple Street for outdoor dining.
A parklet is a dining area patched together from parking spaces for use by a restaurant that received a special permit.

The Summit Common Council earlier this month approved six resolutions to help reopen local businesses, in line with state guidelines and restrictions. Retailers and eateries can apply to expand onto the sidewalk, and the city and Summit Downtown Inc. will place tables and chairs for outdoor seating in the Bank Street lot, Promenade Park, and Lyric Park.

Due to changes in the alcohol board rules, restaurants can expand liquor licenses to include outdoor dining areas.
The Bank Street parking lot will be closed to vehicle parking.
The state has allowed outdoor dining starting June 15, in addition to the already existing curbside pickup and delivery.
