Summit School Calendar 2018-19: First Day Of School, Vacations

SUMMIT, NJ— The first day of school in Summit is September 4th — and whether you and the kids are looking forward to the new school year or are dreading the end of summer, you’ll want to mark the date on your calendar ASAP. The Summit School District has released its 2018-2019 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

September

• 9/4: First Full Day of School Gr. 1-12, Kindergarten Orientation by Appointment
• 9/10: Rosh Hashanah, Schools Closed, Offices Open
• 9/19: Yom Kippur, Schools Closed, Offices Open

October

• 10/8: Prof. Development, Staff Only
• 10/29: Single Session All Grades

November

• 11/5, 11/7: Single Session (k-5 only)
• 11/6: Election Day No School
• 11/8, 11/9: No School
• 11/21: Single Session All Grades
• 11/22, 11/23: Thanksgiving Recess

December

• 12/21: Single Session All Grades
• 12/24-1/1: Winter Break No School

January

• 1/21: Martin Luther King Day No School

February

• 2/1: Single Session All Grades
• 2/18-2/19: Presidents' Day No School

March

• 3/13: Single Session All Grades

April

• 4/15-4/18: Spring Break
• 4/19: Good Friday No School

May

• 5/27: Memorial Day No School

• 6/18: LCJSMS Graduation
