Summit Spotlights X-Country Stars: Luke Mauriello, Timothy Buchan
Both runners joined the 121 Club in honor of the late Summit Police Detective Matthew Tarantino.

SUMMIT, NJ - The Summit High School Athletic Department has chosen to highlight junior cross country runners Luke Mauriello and Timothy Buchan.
"The tandem of Luke Mauriello and Timothy Buchan finished 8th and 11th respectively in the junior class race on Saturday, at the Magee Invitational helping the Hilltoppers to rank 4th overall out of 75 schools at the meet," Coach Neal Sharma said. "Their times also rank 3rd and 5th all-time for Summit on the new Greystone 5k course. Most importantly, both runners ran under 17:00 making them members of Summit Boys Cross Country's 121 Club in honor of late Summit Police Detective Matthew Tarantino.
According to Sharma, Detective Tarantino's racing goal was to break 17:00 in a 5K and in an effort to honor his legacy, any Summit cross country runner who runs 16:59 or faster, becomes a member of the 121 Club, named after the Detective's badge number.
