Summit's Earth Day Clean Up On Saturday
The City of Summit's 11th annual Earth Day Clean-Up will be held on Saturday, April 22 from 9 a.m. to noon.
SUMMIT, NJ — The City of Summit’s 11th annual Earth Day Clean-Up will be held on Saturday, April 22 from 9 a.m. to noon. Members of the community, individuals and groups, are encouraged to participate and help improve Summit’s parks and open spaces. The clean-up is sponsored by the City of Summit Environmental Commission and is conducted in partnership with the Washington Area Association and the Briant Park Olmsted Conservancy.
Volunteers of all ages collect trash and debris from city parks and open spaces, and also remove invasive plants and put wood chips on trails. Last year more than 150 volunteers participated. More than 1000 pounds of trash was collected and 12 yards of wood chips were laid.
City sites that will be part of the Earth Day Clean-Up this year include Briant Park, portions of Wilson Park, Martin's Brook Park, and the open spaces surrounding the Transfer Station near New Providence Avenue, Constantine Place, and Risk Avenue.
