Endangered Peregrine Falcon Chicks Banded in Union
Three Peregrine Falcon chicks that call Union County Courthouse home were recently banded.
Volunteers, staff, and New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection wildlife biologist Kathy Clark banded three healthy young Peregrine Falcon chicks that call the Union County Courthouse "home."
The chicks, two females, one male, were about three weeks old at the time of recent banding. The endangered and protected birds are the offspring of a pair of falcons that have nested on the courthouse roof for the past eight years.
Banding enables biologists to collect important data about these birds.
