BERGENFIELD, NJ – A Bergenfield woman won $5 million on a scratch-off ticket after praying to her late mother for a blessing, according to New Jersey Lottery officials.

Nonie Briggs became a millionaire after playing the $30 Lucky 7s Scratch-Off ticket at Oprandy’s Wine & Liquor on Dean Street in Englewood over the weekend.

After scratching her ticket, Briggs won a free ticket, which she redeemed right away. The second ticket was also a free ticket winner, so she redeemed that, as well. The third ticket was another winner - this time for $50 in cash.

After her third win, Briggs bought one more ticket, which wound up winning her $5 million.

Once the retailer scanned the ticket to confirm the win, Briggs began jumping up and down, and screaming. Briggs said she and her family plan to invest and save the winnings for the future.
