Fairleigh Dickinson Prepares For 'Mostly In-Person' Fall Semester
Fairleigh Dickinson officials are optimistic that growing vaccine distribution will allow them to schedule expanded in-person activities.
TEANECK, NJ — Fairleigh Dickinson officials are planning for a return to "mostly in-person" courses and students activities when the fall semester starts this year on the university's New Jersey campuses.
Planning is underway on just how the university will do that in multiple facets of campus life.
"As we move closer to fall 2021, all signs indicate that the growing distribution of vaccines will allow us to resume many activities. The University is planning to welcome all students back to our New Jersey campuses in the fall and return to a mostly in-person student experience for courses, residential living, co-curricular activities, and services throughout the new academic year," campus officials said.

The college announced that more faculty and staff will be returning to campus as the fall approaches. Officials are also "preparing to accommodate significantly more residential students in the fall."
The expectation is that some safety measures will still need to be in place, but the hope is to restore double-room occupancy throughout the college dormitories.

"At this time it is safe to assume that in our residence halls and throughout the campuses, we likely will need to continue many of the safety and health protocols implemented this year, including wearing face coverings, physical distancing, and surveillance testing. Enhanced cleaning protocols will continue to be in effect as well," officials said.
The adjustment back to in-person learning may actually begin this summer, as "a number" of courses are available with face-to-face learning. Remote courses are still available as well.
Discounts are still being offered to students over the summer as well. They are:
- Undergraduate tuition will be at the standard rate for the first three-credit course a student enrolls in. However, subsequent courses may be taken at half the tuition rate.
- For graduate students, tuition will be at the standard rate for the first three credits, and then subsequent credits may be taken at a $100 reduction. (A few exceptions apply.)
A Fairleigh Dickinson spokesperson recently told Patch that while the university is planning for a return to campus in the fall, college officials have yet to finalize a vaccination mandate. Read more: Questions Remain As NJ Universities Plan For A Return To Campus
