FDU's Anderson Named College Sports Madness NEC Player of the Week

Sophomore Darian Anderson was named NEC Player of the Week by College Sports Madness.

HACKENSACK, N.J. – Fairleigh Dickinson sophomore Darian Anderson (Washington, D.C./St. John’s College) was named Northeast Conference Player of the Week by CollegeSportsMadness.com on Monday, Dec. 14. Anderson was honored for his performance in the Knights’ 91-89 overtime victory at Lafayette on Wednesday, Dec. 9.


Anderson led the Knights with 23 points and also contributed four rebounds, four assists and three steals. Anderson was 10-of-22 from the field and one-of-two from beyond the three-point arc.

He scored 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting in the first half of the game. He connected on a long three-pointer at the buzzer to send FDU into the break with a 44-33 lead.

Anderson’s free throw, with four seconds remaining in overtime, kept the Knights in front by two points as Lafayette took its final possession.

“Darian continues to do so many things for our team and our program,” head coach Greg Herenda said Monday, Dec. 14. “I am glad that people outside of our program are noticing.”

Anderson ranks 10th in the NEC in scoring at 14.7 points per game. He is also fourth in the conference at 4.11 assists per game and second on the circuit in steals per game at 2.33.

College Sports Madness awards conference and national honors to players on a weekly basis throughout the season. The site previously honored FDU’s Earl Potts Jr. (Severn, Md./Archbishop Spalding) with the NEC Player of the Week honors on Monday, Nov. 30.

The Knights will return to action on Friday, Dec. 18 against Towson. FDU and the Tigers will tip off at 8 p.m. at Stratis Arena inside the Rothman Center.
