Friends, Colleagues Shocked, Saddened By Teaneck Mayor's Death Sunday
The Teaneck mayor died Sunday after she was taken to the hospital for 'respiratory issues,' the town said.

TEANECK, N.J. — Friends and colleagues expressed words of shock, sympathy, and support on social media following Mayor Lizette Parker's unexpected death Sunday.
Parker, 44, was taken to Holy Name Medical Center Sunday with "respiratory issues," a notice on the township's website said.

Funeral arrangements will be announced in the coming days, the township said.

Parker had previously suffered from cancer, NJ.com reported.
Parker was the township’s first ever African-American female mayor, The Record reported.
