Wife and mother Mary Rose Ballocanag, 56, is the lone survivor of the July 6 crash. She was seriously injured when the crash occurred as the family was heading home from a trip.

Alvin S. Hubbard, 44, had just finished a welding job and was driving to his home on the Eastern Shore of Maryland when the crash occurred on Route 1 in Townsend, Delaware State Police said. It was fully-loaded with materials when it crossed over the grassy median and hit the family's Toyota Sienna minivan.

The pickup truck crossed over the 60-foot wide center median "for unknown reasons" when it headed south in the northbound lanes, Delaware State Police said during a press conference shortly after the crash.

Audie Trinidad was a postal worker in Bronx, New York. Kaitlyn, known as Nikki, was a student at the College of Mount Saint Vincent in the Bronx. Danna was a junior at Teaneck High School. The twins, Melissa and Allison, attended Thomas Jefferson Middle School in Teaneck, according to an obituary for the family.

Ballocanag previously said she intends to sue Hubbard. She suffered serious injuries in the crash and is recovering after staying a Delaware hospital for days following the crash. She faces a long and difficult rehabilitation.

"When they died, part of me died. Justice will not bring them back, but we will be in a safer place. I know Audie is with them and he will take care of my girls. I miss them so much," Ballocoanag said as she wiped away tears at a recent press conference. "Now that they are all gone I have nothing to look forward to but justice for them."
