Teaneck Bagel Shop Included On Food & Wine's Top 50 List

TEANECK, NJ — Food & Wine's 2021 list of the best bagels in America has New Jersey bagel purists in a tizzy, unless of course your local shop is Teaneck Road Hot Bagels.

The Bergen County shop just off Route 4 has been providing residents with a little get up and go before they, well, get up and go to their jobs in New York City via Route 4 for nearly 30 years.

New Jersey residents aren't aggrieved by the selection, necessarily, but more so by the fact that Food & Wine only included one Jersey bagel shop on the list. (Sorry, pork roll country.)

NJ.com features reporter Jeremy Schneider took exception to the fact that bagel shops in states like North Dakota, Illinois and Michigan had as much representation as New Jersey, and even pitched a few replacements for next year's list.

But even though a collection of New Jersey bagel shops may have been slighted, no one is saying Teaneck Hot Bagels doesn't make a good product.

Here's what the Food & Wine team had to say about the Teaneck staple:

"These Kosher bagels are absolutely the perfect size, no larger than a fist, bragging the perfect texture inside and out; all this perfection is taken for granted by the clientele that have been coming here, and no place else, for years."

If we know anything about the clientele of local staples, it's that they love when lines get longer, and shops more crowded.

So to the people of Teaneck, don't shoot the messenger.
