Teaneck Burger Restaurant Exploring More Locations

Gotham Burger, a kosher burger eatery, plans to open its first location outside of Teaneck in May.

Teaneck-based Gotham Burger is planning a second location in New York City, where patrons will likely notice key differences in the atmosphere.

Gotham Burger's Upper West Side restaurant, set to open in May, will feature more of a sports bar feeling and have a liquor license, owner Avi Roth told NJ.com.

Unlike the Teaneck spot, Roth's Manhattan location will also include waiter service, he said.

Gotham Burger's growth may also expand beyond Teaneck and Manhattan. Roth has been in talks with investors to open Gotham Burger on Long Island and wants to have nearly a dozen other locations open around the region in ten years, the report said.

Gotham Burger replaced Burgers Bar in Teaneck last year. Roth first planned to open the restaurant in New York City, but opted for Teaneck when he approached by the owners of Burgers Bar, he said in an interview with Patch last year.

Roth, a former education consultant, has described his restaurant concept as a Kosher Shake Shack.

“I like the idea of serving something that’s classic, traditional, comfort food but elevating the flavor profiles,” Roth told Patch last year. “I’ve always loved burgers…And I want the menu to extend to the non-Jewish community as well,” Roth said. “We hope all people will love the product and want to keep coming back.”

The New York City location will be on Amsterdam Avenue, between 94th and 95th streets.
