Teaneck High Students Join Inauguration 'Parade Across America'
Teaneck High School students will represent New Jersey during the virtual "Parade Across America" Wednesday, joining Jon Stewart and others.
TEANECK, NJ — As President-elect Joe Biden is set to become President Joe Biden Wednesday, New Jersey will have a presence at the Inauguration Day festivities. The Presidential Inaugural Committee announced the representatives for a virtual "Parade Across America," which includes the Teaneck High School Flag Twirlers and Drum Line.
Those Teaneck students will be joined during the virtual parade by Jon Stewart, along with other representatives from across the country. (Details on how to watch are below.)
"Having our high school students chosen to be a part of this historic day is an extraordinary honor," said Teaneck Public Schools Superintendent Christopher Irving. "The fact that we have been selected to represent the entire State of New Jersey in this Inaugural 'Parade Across America' brings tremendous pride to the Teaneck community. I have always known our students are exceptional. Now our Flag Twirlers and Drumline will demonstrate that for the entire country."

According to a news release from the PIC, the parade is intended to highlight the "diversity, heritage and resilience of the country."
"As a nation, we are strengthened by our respect for one another. By lifting up voices from all walks of life, in every corner of our country, we want the first moments of the Biden-Harris Administration to be a celebration of an inclusive, resilient united America,” said PIC CEO and Delaware State University President, Tony Allen.

The list of performers indeed features a diverse cross-section of talent from across the country, and some famous names.
Following the Inaugural Ceremonies and a visit to the Arlington National Cemetery, Biden and Vice President-elect Harris will receive a presidential escort from 15th Street to the White House, led by the Howard University and University of Delaware drumlines; Biden and Harris' respective alma matters.
Performances will also include the New Radicals, who will reunite for the first time in 22 years. DJ Cassidy's "Pass the Mic" series will take on the Inauguration with a performance that includes Earth Wind & Fire, Nile Rodgers, Kathy Sledge, The Trans Chorus of Los Angeles, The Washington Chorus and The Triumph Baptist Church Choir.
The parade also features a "Dance Across America," led by director and choreographer Kenny Ortega. The segment will include 275 participants in 30 states and two territories.
The event will be livestreamed at https://BidenInaugural.org/wat... starting at 3:15 p.m on Wednesday, and on the PIC’s social media platforms including YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Twitch. The PIC’s streaming partners including Amazon Prime Video, Microsoft Bing, NewsNOW from Fox AT&T U-verse and DIRECTV will also carry the program live.
