Teaneck Restaurants Can Open For Outdoor Service; Here's How
The Township Manager issued directives and guidelines Friday, giving restaurants a path to open for outdoor service as early as Monday.
TEANECK, NJ — New Jersey restaurants begin a new chapter of coronavirus response at 6 a.m. on Monday, as many will be cleared to begin outdoor service.
Teaneck joined the list of municipalities across the state to give clearance to their restaurant community to further reopen, made official in a special emergency directive from the Township Manager, released Friday.
In the directive, Township Manager Dean Kazinci noted that as economies across the world have been impacted by the coronavirus, the Teaneck business community has also faced "great hardship."

Among those rules includes guidance for insurance, seating and social distancing.

Each applicant for outdoor dining must provide the township a Certificate of Insurance with a minimum of $1 million per occurrence and $2 million Aggregate General Liability and Statutory Workers Compensation Coverage.
Restaurants may also extend into a portion of the street adjacent to the property. Requests for this, according to rule five, will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Parking availability, traffic patterns, sidewalk dimensions, seating capacity and potential impact on neighboring businesses will all be taken into consideration during the review process.
Additionally, if a neighboring property owner provides written consent, the outdoor café area may extend to the sidewalk area of adjoining properties.
To maintain proper room for pedestrian traffic, a minimum of three feet of unobstructed sidewalk must be maintained.
Gov. Phil Murphy said earlier this month bars and restaurants can open for outdoor dining beginning Monday at 6 a.m. Employees of the establishments will have to wear masks, as will patrons who wish to go inside at any point.
Tables will be placed 6-feet apart, and parties will be limited to a maximum of eight people.
