Tropical Storm Isaias: Teaneck Municipal Buildings Closing Early

The township announced that municipal buildings will close at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Police, fire and DPW employees will remain on duty.

TEANECK, NJ — In preparation for Tropical Storm Isaias, Teaneck municipal buildings will close to the public at 1 p.m., the township announced.

Police, fire and Department of Public Works staff will remain on duty.

The storm is expected to begin impacting New Jersey this afternoon, and Teaneck, as well as the rest of Bergen County, could see heavy rain and flooding.

Strong winds are also expected, and the National Weather Service says northeast New Jersey is likely to see the most powerful.

Currently, Teaneck and Bergen County are under a tropical storm warning, tornado watch and flash flood watch.

Gov. Phil Murphy has also issued a state of emergency for the entirety of the state, which is in effect as of 5 a.m. this morning.

In response to the storm, the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission closed all offices.

The National Weather Service says the storm will lose strength as it moves north toward the area throughout the day.
