Werner H. Schmid, Teaneck Manager For More Than 30 Years

Schmid, 87, had a long history of public service.

TEANECK, N.J. — Werner H. Schmid, 30-year township manager, died Tuesday, March 7.

Schmid, 87, died at home, township officials announced.

Schmid was township manager for more than 30 years before he retired in 1989. He was a mediator with the Mercer County Municipal Court system.

He was also a member of the Plainsboro Township Zoning Board and an executive board member and president of CONTACT.

He was predeceased by his wife, Josephine.

He is survived by his children Marlena Schmid, Marcella Wiles, Paul Schmid, and his wife Tina, Claudia Faber, and her husband Eliot, and Elisa Rathbun and her husband Daniel; grandchildren Kristen, Leandra, Jared, Timothy, Tori, Jessica, Sophia, Tyler Anne, Natasha and Cassandra; and brother Rudolph.
