13-Year-Old Charged After Cedar Grove Police Pursue Vehicle
The boy was found in a backyard of a Harper Terrace home, police said.
CEDAR GROVE, NJ — A 13-year-old boy was taken into custody after a vehicle was stopped for speeding and crashed on Sept. 10, police said.
Patrolman Connor Grawehr stopped a vehicle for speeding near Pompton Avenue and Harper Terrace just before 7 p.m. The vehicle sped away onto Harper Terrace as Grawehr approached it and crashed a short distance away, police said.
Two people escaped from the vehicle. A 13-year-old boy from Camden was apprehended in the backyard of a Harper Terrace home, police said.

The boy was charged with several offenses and taken to the Essex County Family Courthouse where he was turned over to court officers, police said.
In related news, a Mountain Ridge Drive home resident reported a burglary to a vehicle Sept. 10, police said. The vehicle was unlocked in the driveway.

A credit card was stolen from his wallet that was left in the vehicle. Police are investigating.
Two drivers were arrested for driving with suspended licenses on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, police said. They were arrested, charged, and released on summonses.
