Cedar Grove Massage Parlors Raided For Alleged Prostitution

Five Queens, N.Y. women arrested after investigation by Essex County Prosecutor's Office, Cedar Grove police and other agencies.

Raids of four Cedar Grove massage parlors Tuesday led to the arrest of five Queens women on prostitution charges, authorities said.  

An investigation began in early spring after complaints arose about workers allegedly engaging in prostitution, officials at the prosecutor’s office and Cedar Grove Police Chief Richard Vanderstreet announced late Tuesday night.

Detectives from the Bergen, Hudson, and Passaic county prosecutor’s offices – working with detectives from Cedar Grove and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office - raided Zen Massage and Therapy, 908-B1 Pompton Ave., Spa Oasis, 412 Pompton Ave., Angel Spa, 569B Pompton Ave. and Michelle Nails & Spa 1064 Pompton Ave., acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray said in a statement.

Arrested were: Yu Lanni, 42, at Zen Massage and Therapy, Neilan Xu, 49, at Spa Oasis, Xianyu Jin, 40, at Angel Spa, Jaeryeong Kimnam, 45, at Michelle Spa and Fenyu Piao, 41, detectives arrested Jaeryeong Kimnam, age 45, and Fenyu Piao, age 41.

All five women were charged with engaging in prostitution, according to Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas S. Fennelly, of the Essex County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit. All five were released on their own recognizance after being processed on the charges, according to Fennelly. The women received summonses to appear in Cedar Grove municipal court on an undisclosed date.

The matter is being investigated by the Essex County Prosecutor's Homicide and Major Crimes Task Force and the Bloomfield Police Department.
