Cedar Grove Obituary: Alexander Linkus, Sr.

The longtime Cedar Grove resident was active with the VFW Post, Knights of Columbus Council, Elks Lodge and St. Catherine's.

Longtime Cedar Grove resident Alexander Linkus, Sr. passed away on Oct. 29.

He was 90-years-old.

“Alexander V. Linkus, Sr., 90, of Cedar Grove, N.J., passed away on October 29, 2015, surrounded by his family.

“Born in Elizabeth, N.J. to the late Alexander V. and Valeria, Al proudly served our country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. He lived in Cedar Grove for most of his life.

“He was the owner/president of Lab-Tronics Equipment Co., Cedar Grove, before retiring. He was a past commander and member of the Cedar Grove VFW Post #6255, Knights of Columbus Council #3632, Cedar Grove/Verona, N.J., Cedar Grove Elks Lodge #2237, and an active parishioner and usher at St. Catherine’s. Above all else, he was a devoted grandfather who cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren.

“Predeceased by his parents and wife, Jane E., he is survived by his children, Dianne Heinzmann (Guillermo), Donna Slane (Mark), Alexander V., Jr., (Anne); grandchildren, Andrew Heinzmann (Jessica), Christine Estes (Josh), Elizabeth Heinzmann, Lauren Slane (David Lurie), Michael Slane (Carolyn Beoris), Matthew and Ryan Slane, and Alex and Thomas Linkus; and great-grandchildren, Oliver and Graham Heinzmann and Madelyn Slane; and sister, Helen Jaynes.

“In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, stjude.org.”
