Former Cedar Grove resident James Cunningham passed away on Feb. 4.
The following obituary comes courtesy of Shook’s Cedar Grove Funeral Home:
“James E. Cunningham, 73, of Belle Mead, N.J., formerly of Cedar Grove, N.J., passed away on February 4, 2016. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. from Shook’s Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove. Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Cedar Grove. Cremation will be private. Visitation will be on Monday, February 8, 2016 from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memories and condolences may be shared at shookscedargrove.com.

“Born in Newark, N.J., he lived in Kearny, N.J. before moving to Cedar Grove over 40 years ago. He moved to Belle Mead 3 years ago. He was a self-employed financial planner, retiring last year. He was a member of the Cedar Grove Lions Club, Cedar Grove VFW Post 3269, he was a Cub Scouts pack master, and active at St. Catherine’s as a CCD teacher and RCIA instructor. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
“He is survived by his wife, Christina J.; his sons, James J. (Heather) and Edward; grandchildren, James Thomas, Ty Braydan, and Finley Anne; siblings, Francis A., Nancy Appert, and Mary Elizabeth Sealy.
