The first-grade students of Cedar Grove – and their parents – got a useful tool to help keep them safe: DNA and fingerprinting kits.

CEDAR GROVE, NJ — The first-grade students of Cedar Grove – and their parents – recently received a useful tool to help keep them safe: DNA and fingerprinting kits.
The Cedar Grove Elks #2237 and the Cedar Grove Police Department recently teamed up to donate identity kits to all the first graders in town. The kits give authorities vital information to assist their efforts to locate a missing child and include the following items:
- An Inkless Fingerprint Card
- A DNA Collection Site
- An Inkless Applicator
- A card to fill out the child’s physical description
- A place for a photo
“The Child ID Kit allows parents/guardians to collect specific information by easily recording the physical characteristics and fingerprints of their children on identification cards that are then kept at home by the parent or guardian,” the Elks stated in a news release. “If ever needed, the Child ID Kit will give authorities vital information to assist their efforts to locate a missing child.”
