Hit-And-Run, DUI Reported In Cedar Grove: Police

CEDAR GROVE, NJ — A hit-and-run occurred on Donato Drive Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Police went to a residence at 3:50 p.m. to investigate the crash. Authorities determined that a vehicle backed out of a driveway and hit a parked vehicle, police said. While police were investigated, the vehicle returned to the residence.

A 24-year-old man who was a passenger in the vehicle was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, police said.

Other Cedar Grove police blotter items include:

• Patrolman Anthony Grigolo stopped a driver at 2:11 a.m. Jan. 1 for driving erratically on Pompton Avenue, police said. The 45-year-old man from Brooklyn, New York was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.
• On Dec. 30, at 12:20 p.m., Patrolman Anthony Cardona stopped a vehicle after a random license plate check revealed that the operator had a suspended license. The driver, a 29-year-old Maplewood man was arrested, processed, and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
• On Dec. 31, at 3:04 p.m., Patrolwoman Nicole Hoyt investigated a motor vehicle crash at Pompton and West Bradford avenues, police said. One of the drivers involved in the crash had a suspended license. The 22-year-old from Irvington was arrested, charged, processed, and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
• Patrolman Alan Rock stopped a driver on Saturday for a violation. The 41-year-old driver from Springfield was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license. The woman was booked and given a summons to appear in municipal court.
