Large Water Main Break In Cedar Grove By Rt. 23, Outages Reported

A water main break shut down service in parts of Cedar Grove. Here's when officials estimate repairs will be finished.

CEDAR GROVE, NJ — A water main break on Rt. 23 in Cedar Grove near the municipal building shut down water service for a large portion of town on Thursday, including several local businesses.

Cedar Grove town officials issued the following advisory at 7:27 a.m.:

“There is a large water main break affecting the center of town, from Bradford Avenue to Grove Avenue. The Department of Public Works is working to rectify the situation. Please do not call 911 regarding the water outage, keep the line open for emergencies. Thank you.”

Officials issued an update at 8:28 a.m.:

“There is a large water main break on Route 23 in front of the municipal building. The break is affecting the center of town including all the businesses. There will be no water or low water pressure from Bradford Avenue to Grove Avenue along the highway. Town Hall is going to have a delayed opening of 11:30 a.m. The Department of Public Works is working to repair the main. The time of repair is estimated to be 11:30 a.m. but is subject to change.”
