LGBTQ Nonprofit Endorses Verona-Area Candidates

These candidates have 'a proven record and commitment to New Jersey's LGBTQ community,' the Garden State Equality Action Fund said.

VERONA, NJ — Two local state legislative candidates have been endorsed by New Jersey's largest LGBTQ advocacy organization.

Christine Clarke Laura Fortgag were endorsed by the Garden State Equality Action Fund. They are Democrats running to represent the 26th Legislative District. No legislators or legislative candidates for the 40th District, which includes Cedar Grove, were endorsed.

Candidates in all 40 legislative districts were invited to complete a questionnaire Garden State Equality (GSE) created. The fund's board reviewed submissions and approved the endorsement list.

Endorsed representatives have demonstrated working with and supporting LGBTQ-related issues and have supported GSE's 2020 legislative agenda.

"Standing up for equality is always right, and because of their proven record and commitment of New Jersey's LGBTQ community, each of these candidates have decisively earned Garden State Equality's endorsement," said Christian Fuscarino, Garden State Equality's executive director.
