Man Sentenced to Nearly 4 Years for West Orange, Verona Armed Robberies

U.S. District Court Judge William Walls sentenced a Newark man to 50 months in prison today for robbing businesses in West Orange and Verona at gunpoint last year.

Antwon Yarbrough, 28, pleaded guilty to the federal charges placed against him for conspiring to rob a Krauszers in West Orange and a Subway in Verona, according to nj.com. The robberies were part of a string of planned robberies with two other cohorts.

During the April 24 robbery of the Krauzers, Yarbrough and an accomplice walked into the store wearing face masks, dark hoodies and gloves. Yarbrough zip tied the door closed while the accomplice pointed a gun at the clerk and forced him to lie on the ground.

The two men stole several hundred dollars from the register and cartons of cigarettes.

In the Subway robbery that took place May 20, Yarbrough and two others walked into the establishment wearing dark attire and carrying firearms. One employee’s hand and feet were bound together by zip ties while the men robbed the restaurant of several hundred dollars, police said.

The co-defendants -- Bobby Dawson, 31, and Jamar Darby, 27 -- have already be sentenced.
