In October 2018, the streets of Newark transformed into 1980s Gotham City during filming for the upcoming "Joker" movie.
The upcoming Warner Brothers blockbuster - expected to be released in 2019 – reportedly explores the origin of the infamous Batman foil as a failed comedian. Joaquin Phoenix is the latest actor to be cast as the eponymous Joker, following Jared Leto and Heath Ledger's versions of the Clown Prince of Crime.
