VERONA, NJ — They may not be Devils yet, but now they know what it’s like to stand on the same ice.

Several student athletes from Verona and Glen Ridge were among more than 200 New Jersey high school hockey captains to get a chance to walk onto the ice at the Prudential Center in Newark prior to the Devils game against the Arizona Coyotes on Tuesday.

The event was held in honor of the Devils’ “Captains Night,” and recognized 234 players from 93 Garden State high schools, including several from Livingston, Millburn, Montclair, Newark East Side, Nutley, Verona and Glen Ridge, West Essex-Caldwell and West Orange.
