Town Council Results For Verona, Cedar Grove: Election 2019

VERONA, NJ — Verona and Cedar Grove voters went to the polls to decide their new town council members on Tuesday, May 14.

With all districts reported for both towns, here are the unofficial results from the Essex County Clerk’s Office as of 10 p.m.

VERONA

With 11 of 11 districts reported, it appears that pending a possible recount, Christine McGrath and Alex Roman have captured the two available seats on the Verona Township Council.

McGrath has served as president of the Junior Woman's Club of Verona, Friends of the Verona Public Library and is Essex County chapter leader for gun violence prevention for Moms Demand Action. Learn more about her platform here.

While McGrath apparently cruised to an easy victory, the rest of the contest is tight in Verona, with the third-place candidate John Quattrocchi coming up just three votes shy of Roman, and fourth-place candidate Michael Nochimson, who currently serves on the council, only 14 votes behind.

The vote totals as of 10 p.m. on Tuesday are:

  • Christine McGRATH - 1,314 votes (29.25%)
  • Alex ROMAN – 831 (18.50%)
  • John QUATTROCCHI – 828 (18.43%)
  • Michael NOCHIMSON – 817 (18.19%)
  • John FIORITO – 674 (15.0%)
  • Write-In – 28 (0.62%)

CEDAR GROVE

With 10 of 10 districts reported, it appears Peter Tanella and Joseph Maceri have captured the two available at-large seats on the Cedar Grove Township Council.

Tanella currently serves on the town council. He ran a joint campaign with Maceri. (Watch their campaign video below)

The vote totals as of 10 p.m. on Tuesday are:

  • Peter TANELLA – 909 votes (28.28%)
  • Joseph MACERI – 796 (24.77%)
  • Harry KUMBURIS – 763 (23.74%)
  • James PALMA – 736 (22.90%)
  • Write-In – 10 (0.31%)
