Verona, Cedar Grove Are Among Top 100 NJ Towns: NJ Monthly

Verona and Cedar Grove were near the top of New Jersey Monthly magazine's annual ranking.

VERONA/CEDAR GROVE, NJ — Verona and Cedar Grove were ranked among the top 100 towns in New Jersey by New Jersey Monthly magazine for 2019.

New Jersey Monthly looked at several factors to determine the rankings, including average tax bills, the average change in tax bills since 2016, median home prices and their changes since 2016, the crime rate per 1,000 residents, and local high schools' rank by New Jersey Monthly.

Verona was ranked No. 29 and Cedar Grove No. 70.

Verona residents' tax bills have increased 3.6 percent since 2016, and Cedar Grove residents' 5 percent.

The median home price in Verona is $439,000, which is 5.8 percent more than what it was in 2016. Home prices in Cedar Grove have increased 14 percent during that same time, according to New Jersey Monthly. The median home price there is $490,000.

Verona and Cedar Grove have low crime rates at 6.3 and nearly nine incidents reported per 1,000 people, respectively.
