Verona, Cedar Grove Coronavirus Update: Deaths, Cases
Essex County has seen more than 750 deaths linked to COVID-19, officials said. See town by town totals here.
VERONA, NJ — There have been seven deaths in Verona and 35 in Cedar Grove linked to the new coronavirus as of Monday, county officials said.
Essex County released COVID-19 totals for the townships (see the full county list below):
- Verona -89 cases, 7 deaths
- Cedar Grove - 206 cases, 35 deaths
The totals only include people who have been tested and whose lab results have been reported in the state’s database system. The actual number of infected people in each town is likely to be “much greater,” Essex County officials said.

As of Monday, there were 10,713 cases of COVID-19 and 754 deaths linked to the disease in Essex County. Officials said 7,663 people have tested negative.
The county has the third-highest total of cases in the state behind Bergen and Hudson counties, according to the New Jersey Department of Health.
