Verona Competitive Cheerleading Gets Off to a Flying Start
"We are so proud of them," said senior coach Allison Evans.

VERONA, NJ — Verona's new competitive cheerleaders have been working hard and experiencing the feeling of success that comes with doing what you love, according to a news release.
The revamped Verona cheerleading teams - reorganized after a "once strong and thriving" local cheerleading program dwindled to five team members - started competing in January and collectively have brought home five trophies so far this season.

Both teams came home with first place wins on Feb. 18 after participating in the Montclair State University Cheer Competition in Hackensack, the release stated.
The road to success hasn't been easy; the girls attend weekly tumbling and strength-training classes as well as practicing three times per week.

“We are so proud of them," said senior coach Allison Evans. "Their hard work and dedication to the sport shows. The girls have been receiving higher scores each week which is exactly what we’re looking for. Their first place wins this past weekend proves that both teams have what it takes to succeed.”
Overall, the junior team has competed in three competitions and finished third and first. The senior team has had four competitions and finished fourth, third, first and first, the release stated.
