Verona Obituary: Roy McGaha, Township Worker, Little League Coach

The longtime Verona resident was also a Navy veteran.

Verona, NJ – Verona resident Roy McGaha passed away on March 19.

The following obituary comes courtesy of Shook’s Cedar Grove Funeral Home:

“Roy Lee McGaha, 74, of Verona, died on March 19, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.

“Born and raised in Ashdown, AR and settled in Verona for the past 53 years. During the Cuban Missile Crisis, he served in the Navy. After the war, he worked for the Township of Verona in the engineering department and later was a building contractor. In his spare time, he was an avid Yankee fan and coached little league in Verona.

“He is pre-deceased by his grandson, Nicholas Sweeney and siblings, Thomas, Barbara and Donna.

“Surviving is his beloved wife of 53 years, Florence (DeMaio) McGaha; devoted children, Roy A. McGaha, Lisa McGrath and her husband Malachy, and Laura Sweeney and her husband Gregory; cherished grandchildren, Patrick, Samantha, Jason, Hope, Jessica, Taylor, Megan, Jenna and Gianna and his loving sister, Yvonne Bosley.

“In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Verona Lions Club or the Alzheimer’s Association.”
