Verona Special Storm Debris Collections End March 29

Still have storm-related debris to throw out in Verona? The town's final special storm pickup will be on March 29.

VERONA, NJ — The following news release comes via the Verona Police Department. Learn more about posting announcements or events to your local Patch site here.

Due to the significant amount of tree debris generated by the March nor’easters, be advised that the township will continue to provide a special collection and cleanup of miscellaneous, STORM-RELATED tree debris until THURSDAY, MARCH 29, at which time all special storm collections will end and residents will be expected to follow the regular collection schedule and requirements for vegetative waste. All storm-related tree debris must be out at the curb by 7 a.m. on Thursday morning, 3/29.

This tree debris which is identified below must be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2018.

Once the special collection has commenced and as each street is cleared of debris after Thursday, March 29, 2018, crews will not return to that street for additional debris. Residents will be required to make their own arrangements for disposal at that time.

  • Branches - Branches are defined as any tree, bush or shrub parts less than one (1) inch in diameter. Branches must be cut in manageable lengths of 3 to 10 feet and must be stacked neatly to facilitate disposal. Branches may also be set out in biodegradable paper bags.
  • Wood Chips/chunks, Tree Bark, Acorns, Misc., Nuts, Tree Droppings, Etc. - These items must be placed at the curb in biodegradable paper bags or rigid containers not weighing more than 50 pounds each.
  • Logs- Logs are defined as any tree part one (1) inch or larger in diameter. Logs are not normally collected as vegetative waste however logs up to six (6) inches in diameter will be collected during this special storm cleanup only. Residents must make their own arrangements for disposal of logs larger than 6 inches in diameter. To facilitate collection please keep log piles separate from branch piles. Different crews and equipment will be collecting the different debris.
  • Stumps – Stumps are not collected. Residents must make their own arrangements for disposal.

All tree debris must be placed at the curb but not in the street to avoid impeding traffic or causing safety concerns. Prior to curbside collection any tree debris which spills into the street must be returned to the curb immediately by the property owner. Violators will be subject to fine by Code Enforcement for impeding traffic.

Residents must place tree debris as indicated above at the curb by 7 a.m. on March 29, 2018.
