Why I Distrust New Jersey Government

This Essex County Resident & Taxpayer & Asian American Woman Lists Her Experiences with Local Government

Because it took about 3 years and discussions with two investigators at the Essex County, New Jersey Bias Crimes Unit, more than 4 police officers at the West Orange Police Department, a deadly pandemic in which Asian/Asian American people are getting assaulted & harmed and finally an Essex County Assistant Prosecutor to enable me to file a police report about 2018 incident where a woman yelled at me for about an hour at a West Orange tennis facility.

Because the Essex County Inspector General acknowledged that I might have spoken to an Essex County employee after I challenged one of his employees who stated no Essex County employee spoke to me about a campaign sign placed near my property in September 2020.

I question the methodologies used--or not used--to investigate my concerns. Did investigators pull any surveillance camera footage at the Cedar Grove facility I drove to this past Veteran's Day where I spoke to an employee about my concern? Did anyone check the Essex County website that houses my complaint? Did anyone speak to the employee(s) who monitor the site to which I submitted information?

Because a Montclair Police Officer essentially told me that I prompted a harassment incident when I tried to report it to the Montclair Police Department in 2018.

Because New Jersey is a small state and I have learned how incestuous it is.

Because I know the connections that exist between organizations like a private boy’s high school in Essex County (where I experienced racism & sexism) and Essex County entities.

Because I have noted a pattern with some people who have harassed me and my son and considered the possibility that there might be a connection to people who work at my son's school.

I discovered there are sick people on staff who abuse their authority.

Because I have learned that racism, sexism & unprofessionalism exist in the organization that oversees my son's school. And this organization will threaten an Asian American mother if she advocates for her concerns about her child during a deadly pandemic.

"Thou Shall Not Challenge this Body," was the lesson I learned from this organization instead of tolerance, flexibility, intellectual exploration & other Christian values. Learning the hypocrisy & ignorance of this entity, which seems stuck in the 19th century, was a disturbing revelation.

I am not sure why they or anyone would want to hurt an Asian American mother and her half Asian, half White child.

I never imagined we would be the targets of harassment & bullying in one of the most "progressive" & highly educated areas in New Jersey and in one of the most diverse states in the Union.

Very sad.
