What It Costs To Live In NJ's 'Coolest' Town

Asbury Park has gotten its fair share of accolades for being cool and hip lately.

Travel and Leisure magazine recently named Asbury Park the "coolest place" at the Jersey Shore, telling people to "ditch the Hamptons for something much cooler."

"Long known as a destination for music history buffs or as a backdrop of crumbling architecture, Asbury Park has become an unlikely cultural hub on the Jersey Shore," the publication said of the Jersey Shore town.

Last June, Budget Travel named Asbury Park the "coolest small town" in America.

And most recently, Money Magazine named Asbury Park the second best beach in all of America in a May feature.

"Made famous by Bruce Springsteen, Asbury Park offers the classic combo of beach and boardwalk. Surfers can be seen riding the waves on this mile-long stretch of the Jersey Shore," Money Magazine said.

In its analysis of America's best beaches, Money Magazine offered seven options for "sandy retreats, breaks surfers will love, lush foliage-hidden escapes, and kid-friendly options with boardwalk games."

"The one thing they share: All offer that ideal mix of waterfront amenities and affordability," the magazine said. The magazine highlighted some features that make it an attractive destination, including the Silverball Museum Arcade and The Stone Pony.
