24 Warren 8th Graders Win Art And Writing Contest Awards

The students, in Dannine Albanese and Christine Cirrotti's Language Arts class, won awards in the Scholastic Art and Writing contest.

WARREN, NJ — Congratulations to the 24 eighth-grade students from Warren Middle School who won awards in the Scholastic Art and Writing contest.

The students, in Dannine Albanese and Christine Cirrotti's Language Arts class, entered their artwork, essays, poems, and short stories in November.

Out of more than 300,000 pieces of work, the Warren students found out they were among the 2,900 to be recognized for their efforts.

"The success of our students is a point of pride for all of us at WMS. Each of these students are finding their place in this world through their creation and sharing in that is a source of joy. Thank you to all of the 8th-grade students who volunteered to be part of this contest and congratulations to those recognized by the judges. In addition, thank you to Mrs. Cirrotti and Mrs. Albanese for their efforts in guiding our students through this process," said George Villar, WMS principal.

The gold medal winners are going on to the national competition and will be notified if they have won further prizes in March.

The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers will hold a week-long series of events in New York City during the first week of June. A ceremony at Carnegie Hall will be held on June 4, to celebrate the success of these talented students.
