'Please Stay Home And Off The Roads': Warren Police

Somerset County and Warren Township Public Works Departments are continuing to plow and salt roadways in the township Tuesday.

WARREN, NJ — Warren officials are asking residents to "please stay home and off the roads" Tuesday to allow for Somerset County and Township Public Works Departments to complete plowing and salting operations.

Over the past 48 hours, Warren was hit hard by snow with just about two feet of snow falling. Throughout the storm, 19 DPW employees and subcontractors have been continuously working to clear township roadways.

"These dedicated individuals came in Sunday afternoon and are still working. They plowed and salted more than 325 Township roads, going through approximately 560 tons of salt," said Warren Mayor George Lazo.

Residents are encouraged to check on elderly neighbors. The Warren Police, Fire Department, Rescue Squad and OEM have been responding to many calls ensuring the safety of residents and travelers. The Warren Rescue Squad opened a rehab center for first responders and stranded motorists.

"It is important for residents to clear fire hydrants in order for the Fire Department to access the hydrants in the event of a fire near your home," said Deputy Mayor Vic Sordillo.

The Warren Township offices were closed Tuesday, but expect to reopen Wednesday.
