Somerset County Swimmers Break National Records At Olympic Trial
Matt Fallon of Warren and Jack Alexy of Mendham are both part of the Greater Somerset County YMCA Storm Swim Team.

WARREN, NJ — Two Somerset County YMCA (GSCYMCA) swimmers advanced to the semi-finals Olympic Trials in Omaha, Nebraska on June 16 where they both broke national records in the 17-18 age group.
Matt Fallon of Warren competed in the men's 200m breaststroke and recorded a time of 2:08:01 in the semi-finals – the fastest time in the 18 and under category in American history, which made him the number 1 seed going into the finals, according to spokeswoman for GSCYMCA Jenna Calder.
Fallon placed 8th overall in the 200m breaststroke at the Olympic Trials.

"It was an honor to be there with them and represent the [GSCYMCA] program with them," said Lou Petto, GSCYMCA Head Coach and Director of Competitive Aquatics. "People took notice of what they did."

While both swimmers ultimately did not make the Olympic team, Petto said they were "very committed."
"They did everything the right way while out there. They were both very supportive of each other too and didn't miss any of each other's races," said Petto.
