Tractor Trailer Spills 80 Gallons Of Fuel Onto I-78 In Crash
The truck went off the highway and crashed into the overhead exit sign for I-287 in Somerset County causing the exit to close on Sunday.
BEDMINSTER, NJ — A tractor-trailer crashed on I-78, taking out an overhead sign for I-287 and spilling 80 gallons of fuel in Somerset County on Sunday morning.
At 5:29 a.m. on Sunday a Mack tractor-trailer ran off I-78 to the left and struck the guardrail and the overhead sign for I-287, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Philip Curry said.
The crash occurred near milepost 31.2 on the Exit 29 Ramp for I-287 in Bedminster.

The tractor had damage to the fuel tanks and spilled about 80 gallons of diesel fuel. Somerset County Hazmat came to clean up the spill, Curry said.
The right and center lane as well as the exit 29 ramp were closed throughout the day and overnight into Monday morning to clean the spill and repair the sign.

The driver sustained minor non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Morristown Medical Center.
