Unlocked SUV With Keys Left Inside Stolen From Warren

Warren Police previously sent out an alert to residents reminding them to lock their vehicles after a rash of car burglaries was reported.

WARREN, NJ — Just days after Warren Police sent out a warning to residents, an unlocked SUV with the keys left inside was stolen from the township.

On Thursday, a Wilderness Trail resident reported their 2020 Jeep Cherokee was stolen from the driveway sometime overnight, police said.

The SUV was left unlocked with the key fob left inside, police said.

It was later found in Newark on Thursday afternoon.

Warren Police previously sent out an alert to residents reminding them to be vigilant after five unlocked vehicles were burglarized overnight this past weekend.

"Please remove all valuables and secure your vehicles. DO NOT leave your key fob in your vehicle when not in use including when parked inside of your secured garage. Please report any suspicious activity immediately to the Warren PD," police said in an alert to residents.

Two burglaries were reported by a Red Hill Road resident who said two unlocked vehicles were entered overnight and various credit cards were stolen. The cards were then found nearby, Dziedzic said.

A resident of Nicole Lane also reported two motor vehicle burglaries and a home burglary.

Someone entered an unlocked vehicle in the driveway and used the remote that was left in that vehicle to get into the garage where a second unlocked vehicle was burglarized, Dziedzic said.

It is unknown what was taken at this time.

A resident of Gabriella Lane also reported a burglary to an unlocked motor vehicle that happened around 3:30 a.m. Nothing was reported taken.
