Warren 8th Grader Pushed To Enjoy Life With 'Sparkle And Pizzazz'

Alexa M. Lawrence​ had just celebrated her 14th birthday when she died on ​Saturday from complications related to Loeys Dietz Syndrome.

WARREN, NJ — Alexa Mckenzie Lawrence had just celebrated her 14th birthday when she died on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019 at New York Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan from complications related to Loeys Dietz Syndrome.

An eighth grade student at Warren Middle School in Warren, "Lexi" did not let LDS define her. She was both fiercely competitive and fiercely devoted to her family and friends, her obituary stated.

"She pushed to experience all that life offered and did so with sparkle and pizzazz. She not only lit up a room but took charge from the moment she entered," according to her obituary.

She was known for receiving a black belt in Taekwondo, being an artist where she created beautiful drawings and sketches, being a talented actor and singer, and having a great sense of humor.

Alexa is survived by her parents, Susan and Christopher Lawrence, her sister Casadi and her brother Reid. She is also survived by her grandparents Kenneth and Jeanetta Lawrence, her many uncles, aunts and cousins (The Arakelian’s, The Hibbs, Campbell’s and Zegar) and a world of friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 31 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Valley Memorial Funeral Home 1012 Valley Rd., Gillette. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Feb. 1 at 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament RC Church in Martinsville. Disposition will be private.
