Warren Gets Grant Money For Youth Programs
Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders awarded funds as part of the Municipal Youth Services Commission (MYSC) annual grant program

Warren, NJ -- Warren was among those to receive grant money from the Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders to fund youth services.
A total of $90,000 was awarded to 14 Somerset County Municipal Youth Services Commissions, representing all 21 Somerset County municipalities, for 37 projects. Funding was provided through the 2015 Municipal Youth Services Commission (MYSC) annual grant program, and is awarded to each municipality with a K-8 school.
Ceremonial checks were presented to grant recipients at a freeholders’ meeting.

In addition to the $5,000 annual grant funding given to each municipal youth services commission, competitive grants in the amount of $2,500 each were awarded to four of the commissions.
“The Board of Freeholders is pleased to present funding for so many worthwhile, fun and educational programs for county youth,” said Freeholder Director Mark Caliguire. “Funds will be used to support a wide variety of prevention programs in these local communities.”
Grant awards in the amount of $5,000 were presented to the following municipal youth services commissions:

- Bernards for Girls on Track and Ridge Against Alcohol & Drugs (RAAD);
- Branchburg for its Run 4 Fun and STOP programs;
- Bridgewater/Raritan for the NewComers Club and Girls on the Run program;
- Franklin for its Youth Council, Franklin Youth Prevention and Empowerment, and Boys Council/Girls Circle programs;
- and Green Brook for its Health in Steps, Girls Circle and Challenge Day/Challenge Club programs.
The Bound Brook/South Bound Brook MYSC was awarded $10,000 for its Middle Earth Community Youth Center, Hispanic Counseling Group, Character Education and Girls on the Run programs. The Somerset Hills MYSC, which represents the towns of Far Hills, Peapack/ Gladstone, Bedminster and Bernardsville, received $10,000 for its Tutor/Mentoring, Youth Summit, Girls on the Run/Girls on the Move programs.
Competitive grants for $2,500 were awarded to the Bound Brook/South Bound Brook MYSC for its Youth College Readiness program,Bridgewater/ Raitian MYSC for its Big Top Bridgewater program, Franklin MYSC for it Girls Power Runners program, and Green BrookMYSC for its Boys Council.
